The very first time I visited New York City I just about fainted. This was it. This was life. I was absolutely spell bound and now, as a frequent visiter, I still get goosebumps everytime I drive through the bridge and am met with the breathtaking view. This place really is the bees’ knees. It is full of life, character, cultural diversity and endless opportunity for the young at heart.
I initially visited for various modeling gigs and opportunities and quickly made friends and found myself making visits practically every month. One thing is for certain, you will find people from all walks of life and there are eccentrics GALORE. Some of the most interesting people I have ever met in my life hail from this little beauty and it’s urban vibe is absolutely intoxicating. The art and fashion scenes are not only the best in the country but world-renowned. Visit during one of the fashion weeks and you will have a blast seeing all of the models, designers and celebrities in attendance at some of these events.
For art, you pretty much have the world at your fingertips. But for a price. Unlike other cities, you will have to pay a pretty penny to visit some of these museums and events that are free of charge all day, every day in places like Washington, DC. However, can you put a price on a Picasso? Yes—yes, you can. But a $40 cover is well worth it for the art enthusiasts and collectors. The art scene is thriving and you’ll find areas such as NOMA, Little Italy, the Lower East Side (LES) and the Upper West Side / East Side to be a blast (albeit pricey). Regardless, this place has it all and is pretty much a self-contained world in itself.
